Ad calls are made from each individual NetComTV set-top box (CSAI). The networks (i.e., ESPN) send NetComTV "SCTE markers" placed within the content stream.
These indicate the ad avails NetComTV owns in-stream. Each set-top box calls out until there is a winning bid. From there, the ad is downloaded to the box and will play at the next available SCTE marker.
